I didn't find my cure in a pharmacy. I found it in the ancient mechanics of my own body.

The year was 2012. Retreating to the mountains of the Pacific Northwest on a sabbatical following my husband's death, I sought the space to rediscover who I was. In that profound quiet, a stark truth hit me: no one was coming to rescue me. If I was going to survive, I had to save myself. That single realization changed the entire trajectory of my life. Attitude became my greatest tool for identity shaping—the key to unlocking the vibrant, healthy woman I aspired to be. My sister-in-law, who shared my exact age and health struggles, had just passed away, cementing my fierce determination not to let my remaining years slip away like the generations before me. What did I have to lose? Those few isolated months altered my course completely. Healing became a conscious, waking practice, and to my surprise, once I fully aligned with that new path, the transformation felt beautifully effortless.
The year was 1998, and there I was with my husband, looking out from the top of the Eiffel Tower. But the magic of Paris was lost on me, entirely consumed by the silent war raging inside my body. Weighing 210 pounds and wearing a size 20, I dragged myself across France burdened by fibromyalgia, arthritis, asthma, and an autoimmune response that felt completely out of control. My joints screamed with every cobblestone I crossed. I gritted my teeth and pushed through the agonizing pain to support him—a self-sacrificing decision that would soon catch up with me in the worst way possible.

The medical system advised, "Manage it," while my body insisted, "Heal it."
For years, I was trapped in a body that felt like a prison. At 210 pounds, battling multiple auto-immune issues, I was exhausted, inflamed, and told that medication was my only future. But pushing through the pain with forced workouts only made me sicker.
Pushing through the pain with exhausting, high-impact workouts usually just leaves you feeling more depleted and further stresses your body. You don't need to force your body to move. You need to help it reset.
I felt shame for not doing the intense workouts like everyone else. They said, "What's wrong with you? You look fine." I simply couldn't, and was fighting with myself daily over it.
Everything changed when I stopped fighting my body and started unblocking it. Through the fluid, powerful practices of Qigong, Tai Chi, and Neigong, I learned how to flush out deep stagnation, hydrate my bound fascia, and reset my nervous system from the inside out.
